Oxfam Novib: a data foundation for CRM and analytics

Azure data engineering for migration, governance, and reporting workflows.

Data Engineer · September 2022–June 2023

The operational problem

Oxfam Novib’s CRM and analytics environment needed data workflows supporting migration from multiple sources, including SAP and Salesforce, alongside reporting and governance requirements.

My contribution

I designed and implemented Azure-based pipelines using Databricks, Data Factory, SQL, Key Vault, and Azure DevOps. The work covered multi-source extraction and transformation, data organization, and documentation for development and production workflows.

The architecture decisions

I implemented a Bronze, Silver, and Gold data architecture to separate stages of data preparation and support downstream analytics and campaign management. I also developed anonymization and retention logic for sensitive data and documented the operating workflows for maintainability and handoff.

What the work enabled

The delivered infrastructure supported CRM migration and prepared data for reporting and analytics. The project combined pipeline implementation with governance processes and operational documentation, providing a foundation that could be maintained beyond the initial development work.
