Technology and proptech, explained

Why does AI need weather stations?

A clever model still needs clues from the real world.

Why does AI need weather stations?

A clever model still needs clues from the real world.

The missing clue might be nearby.

A distant station cannot describe every local shower. Ground observations add local evidence.

Past patterns. Fresh observations.

Weather AI can learn from historical data. Current observations help describe the conditions a forecast starts from.

A radar picture is not a prediction.

Radar shows detected precipitation. A forecast estimates what may happen next. Keep the time labels separate.

New funding is not a finished forecast.

Google announced Irish AI-weather research support on 13 October. Better local forecasts are an aim, not a result proven by this post.

Before trusting the rain icon...

Check the location, update time and forecast window. Use official local warnings for safety decisions. Our original three-question reading framework uses fictional scenes, not measured results. Research funding is not completed deployment or proof of accuracy. Illustrative maps and weather only; no local forecast or safety advice beyond official warnings.
