AI agents are learning when to ask.
GitHub has made assisted permissions generally available in Copilot CLI, the Copilot app and VS Code. The useful question is what still needs your approval.

A permission decision can use AI.
GitHub says a language model assesses requests to run commands, access paths or open URLs. Requests classified as clearly safe can proceed; others require approval.

Three things still matter.
The requested action. The access available. The policy controlling approval. A classifier is one part of that system.

Assisted is not unlimited.
GitHub says enterprise administrators can block Allow All while keeping Assisted, or disable Assisted separately. A permission mode does not prove every proposed action is correct.

Before you enable it, ask:
Which actions can proceed? Which paths and services are reachable? Which decisions still stop for a person?

Less friction needs clear boundaries.
Use permission settings deliberately. Check consequential results, even when the request was allowed.
